Polysaccharides are polymeric carbohydrate molecules. β-Glucans is one of polysaccharides, exhibit immunomodulatory activities. Typically, β-glucans form a linear backbone with 1-3 β-glycosidic bonds. Some β-glucan molecules have branching glucose side-chains. For β-glucans containing 1-6 side branches, these β(1→3),(1→6) glucans showed immunomodulatory activities in human. Various studies have examined the health effects of β(1→3),(1→6) glucans as immunomodulators and immunostimulatory agents.
